Collagen-Building Ingredients Found in Celestolite Products

Collagen is one of the main structural proteins that gives your skin its smoothness and firmness. Although your skin naturally produces this itself, the rate at which it does so significantly declines with age, with this drop beginning in your mid-20’s.

While instant results are always great when it comes to skin care products, the very best anti-aging products will target this decline in collagen, featuring specific ingredients that are capable of building your natural collagen levels back up.

Almost each and every one of our products contain ingredients that are able to do this, because we believe that this is the only way for our products to provide you with noticeable and long-lasting results.

Here are just a few of the collagen-building ingredients that you will find in Celestolite products:

Retinyl Palmitate

Retinyl palmitate is a form of vitamin A, and this is considered to be one of the best ingredients out there for building up your skin’s production of collagen. There is so much research on vitamin A out there, and all studies point to how this ingredient significantly increases the skin’s collagen levels after just a few months of regular use.

Why do we use retinyl palmitate instead of retinol?

Well, while retinol may be the most potent form of vitamin A, it also commonly leads to skin irritations. Many people cannot tolerate retinol, but have no problems at all with retinyl palmitate.

While retinol does have the added bonus of mildly exfoliating the skin, both retinol and retinyl palmitate bring about similar results when it comes to increasing collagen production.

Want to give this ingredient a try?

You will find retinyl palmitate in quite a few of our skin care products, from the Cosmic Firming Mask to the Luna Luminous Touch. However, if you want a product that you can use on a daily basis, check out the Jade Spectra Phyto Silk, which contains a number of other collagen-building vitamins and botanicals too.

Peptides

If you are trying to ensure that your skin care routine helps your skin to build as much collagen as possible, then, just like retinyl palmitate, peptides are another must-have ingredient.

What are peptides?

They are natural amino acids, and basically form the building blocks of the collagen in your skin.

These amino acid chains are quite short, meaning that they are able to quickly penetrate through the top layer of skin. This is important, because collagen is created in the deeper layers of your skin. In order for an ingredient to make a significant difference to your skin’s collagen production, it needs to be delivered directly to these deeper layers.

How do peptides work?

It depends on the peptide. There are several different types out there, and each of them have slightly different effects.

The peptides that we most often use in Celestolite products are:

  • Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
  • Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12
  • Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7
  • Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-1
  • Acetyl Tetrapeptide-15

What’s the difference between them?

Well, the hexapeptides help to relax wrinkles, giving them a much smoother appearance. The tetrapeptides work by promoting collagen production, as well as elastin, which will help with skin tightness too.

So, which Celestolite products should you go for if you want to incorporate peptides into your skin care routine?

All of the products in our Venus Sensitive Collection contain peptides.

You will also find peptides in our:

  • Cosmic Neck Firming Cream
  • Cosmic Wrinkle Plumper
  • Jade Spectra Mask
  • Jade Spectra Phyto Silk
  • Jade Spectra Bead Serum

DMAE

DMAE stands for dimethylaminoethanol, and is a substance that naturally occurs in the brain.

In the past, research on DMAE was focused on how this supplement could help to improve memory and cognitive function, but it was not long before researchers realized that this ingredient also had a number of skin-boosting benefits too, which is why many estheticians use it in their skin care products.

Just like the other ingredients on this list, DMAE is effective at stimulating the skin into producing more collagen.

However, it does more than that too…

Studies have shown that DMAE is also able to increase the thickness of the collagen fibers in your skin. This then has the effect of an increased thickness in the dermal layer of the skin, resulting in the skin looking and feeling significantly plumper and smoother.

DMAE is also known for its anti-inflammatory effects. This helps to preserve your skin’s collagen, since inflammation is something that can cause it to break down.

Think that your skin would benefit from the use of DMAE?

You can try this ingredient out in our Cosmic Firming Collection. The Cosmic Firming Cream, Cosmic Firming Serum and Cosmic Firming Mask all contain DMAE, and the ingredient will have an even greater effect if you are able to incorporate all three of these products into your skin care routine.

Green Tea Leaf Extract

Officially known as camellia sinensis leaf extract, green tea extract is an ingredient that has been appearing more and more in a variety of different anti-aging skin care products.

Why is green tea extract becoming such a popular skin care ingredient?

Because green tea is rich in a number of special polyphenols, which are basically like supercharged antioxidants. One polyphenol in particular, known as EGCG, is able to slow down the rate at which the skin’s collagen usually breaks down, enabling these fibers to stay stronger and healthier for longer.

The catechins in green tea help with this as well, preventing the breakdown of both collagen and elastin. The catechins also protect the fibroblast cells in the skin.

What do the fibroblast cells do?

These cells, which sit in your skin’s dermal layer, are the ones responsible for producing collagen and elastin. By keeping these healthy and strong, you then encourage them to continue building optimum amounts of these proteins.

Want to give green tea leaf extract a try?

You will find this ingredient in a few of our products, including:

Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract

Spilanthes Acmella flower

Spilanthes acmella is a medicinal plant that is also known as:

  • Paracress
  • The toothache plant
  • Electric daisies
  • Buzz buttons

It is quite a unique plant, because when the extract is applied to the skin, it is able to relax the muscles in the face, therefore smoothing out expression lines and wrinkles. This is why this ingredient is often referred to as a natural alternative to Botox.

Of course, these effects only take place on the surface, so how does this extract have an impact on collagen production?

In a couple of ways…

Although research on this botanical is still limited, studies so far indicate that spilanthes acmella does indeed have the potential to encourage the skin’s production of collagen. It does this by stimulating the fibroblast cells, which, as you already know, then enable the skin to produce collagen.

Not only that, but this botanical is also able to reorganize the collagen fibers that already exist in your skin. This results in a much smoother and more even complexion.

There’s one other thing that you should know about…

When combined with other ingredients, spilanthes acmella flower extract is able to increase the rate at which the skin absorbs them. This means that this botanical can help other collagen-building ingredients to have an even greater effect.

Since this is quite a potent extract, we chose to use this botanical in our Jade Spectra Night Capsules. These capsules contain various other botanical extracts and vitamins too, and are designed to be used on the skin on a weekly basis.

Aloe Vera Extract

Aloe vera has been used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes for thousands of years, with this plant dating all the way back to Ancient Egypt.

There are so many different uses for aloe vera, with its most popular benefits being its skin-soothing, anti-inflammatory properties.

However, what many people do not realize is that aloe vera is actually an incredible anti-aging ingredient too…

Studies have shown that regular topical use of aloe vera results in an increase in the skin’s collagen, as well as its elastin. It does this by stimulating the fibroblast cells, enabling them to up their collagen production.

Aloe vera is also a fantastic source of antioxidants. These are key when it comes to preventing collagen breakdown, with the antioxidants able to preserve the skin’s supply of both collagen and elastin.

Want to start using more aloe vera?

Check out our Venus Sensitive Collection. The Venus Sensitive Eye Cream and the Venus Sensitive Eye Serum both contain aloe vera extract.

Allantoin

While many of the ingredients on this list are quite popular skin care ingredients, allantoin is a little lesser-known.

Never heard of it before?

Allantoin is a compound that can be found in a variety of different plants, including:

  • Comfrey
  • Chamomile
  • Sugar beet
  • Wheat sprouts

It is an ingredient that is primarily used for its moisturizing properties, because it is able to significantly increase the water content of each of your skin cells.

While this in itself then enables the skin cells to function optimally, therefore supporting them while they build collagen, allantoin is another ingredient that also stimulates the skin’s fibroblast cells, encouraging them to produce even more collagen.

If you find that your skin often reacts negatively to many of the commonly-used skin care ingredients out there, you may want to look for a product that has been formulated with allantoin. This compound has been shown to make other ingredients less irritating, which could be due to its moisturizing and skin-calming effects.

You will find allantoin in a few of the products in our Venus Sensitive Collection, including the Day Cream, the Eye Cream and the Celestial Renewal System.

If you don’t have sensitive skin, you may want to try the Luna Mineral Cream. It contains allantoin, along with a few of the other collagen-building ingredients that have been mentioned on this list. This is a cream that can be used on a daily basis, enabling your skin to reap the full benefits of the allantoin.

Sweet Almond Oil

Two small jars of almond oil surrounded by loose almonds

Just like with many of the other ingredients on this list, sweet almond oil is a botanical that has been used for centuries all over the world.

This oil is quite a special one, because it is packed with a high concentration of vitamin E, along with proteins, essential fatty acids, vitamins and so much more.

As you can imagine, all of this does so much good for the skin…

In addition to nourishing the skin with its many nutrients, sweet almond oil also contains the amino acids needed by your skin to build more collagen. The proteins in the oil help with this too, supporting the skin’s collagen production to boost it on.

Sweet almond oil itself also contains a small amount of collagen. While this doesn’t do much in terms of increasing your natural production of collagen, it does still provide some immediate firming effects.

Wondering which Celestolite product you will find sweet almond oil in?

You will find this oil, along with several other skin-nourishing botanicals, in our Luna Lava Mask. If you have never used this mask before, you will be pleasantly surprised by its gentle warming effect, as well as the way in which your skin will radiate after you rinse the mask off.

Can’t seem to find sweet almond oil printed on the ingredients list?

That’s because this ingredient is officially referred to by its Latin name, which is Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis.

Almost each and every one of our products contains at least one ingredient that will help to boost your skin’s collagen production. Of course, some collections do contain more of these than others, so if collagen-building is your main focus when it comes to your skin care routine, feel free to get in touch with us for some extra advice.
